A growing number of local communities are shutting down parks and playgrounds in an effort to enforce social distancing mandates and slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The governor and public health officials have urged New Yorkers to get outside to exercise while maintaining the recommended six feet of distance between themselves and avoid recreational equipment in order to prevent viral transmission.
But some people are not heeding the social distancing call, leading some parks to shut down due to overcrowding.
Thus far, Albany and Rensselaer counties have NOT shuttered parks, but are monitoring the situation closely. Read more here.
